For most people, a home is the most expensive purchase that will ever be made. And Longboat Key Florida real estate is no exception. For new home buyers, the purchasing a home is can be stressful. The stress of purchasing real estate property can be greatly reduced merely by selecting an experienced Realtor.

Many first time home buyers partner with a real estate agent by chance. The potential buyer express interest in a property by responding to an ad in a newspaper and suddenly they find themselves partnered with a real estate agent. Make sure the realtor in question is experienced and not simply trying to maximize their commission earnings. The key to finding a great realtor who will facilitate the process of buying a home and save you money is to interview several agents and ask questions.

  1. How much experience does the Realtor have? The experience level of the Realtor is one of the most important qualifications of a Realtor. Chose the real estate agent with the most experience and certainly best reputation. Therefore, your first question to a real estate agent should be, “how long have you been selling real estate?” For new home buyers, try to locate an agent with at least three years experience.
  2. Does the agent know the area? Knowledge of the neighborhood you wish to purchase a property in is also important. A realtor who has spent a great deal of time selling properties in a particular area know a great deal about that area such as the quality of the schools and amenities. Basically you’re looking for an agent who works a very specific area and not a very large geographical area.
  3. Is the Real Estate Agent insured? A qualified realtor will typically carry or make sure his broker carries errors and omissions insurance in order to reduce the risk of contractual errors. An error or omission could be something as simple as the square feet of the house. Without errors and omissions insurance, you would be responsible for any errors or omissions. Real estate agents are not required by law to carry E&O insurance so you need to be sure to ask if the agent does indeed carry the insurance.

Spend some time interviewing Longboat Key real estate agents in your search for and asking questions and your new home experience should be a good one!
